'Structure' - Manipulated Book Sculpture [3/4View] by jonesblachowicz 'Structure' - Manipulated Book Sculpture [3/4View] by jonesblachowicz
This guy was a labor of love, paper cuts, and hot glue burns.

I've been interested in the spine lately, as I feel most artists have been at some point, so I took the broad shape of the spine and abstracted it.
It's made up of pages of a book called "The ABCs of the Human Body" from 1984. I cut these pages into 1/8ths and rolled them into tubes. The whole book is in there, meaning there has got to be at least 1200 paper rolls. (There's gotta be a whole pack...or two...or three...of hot glue sticks in there too)
I chose this book for its clear link to the human structure, but also for its colorful images and its age.

I'll let you guys interpret the rest, and I implore you to utilize full view!

yesssss - i instantly knew it was made from paper, because i saw other paper works before, but this one beats them all, haha - congrats on your well deserved DD... :D

then i liked your comment very much, the "hot glue burns" made me smile...
in the 90s i helped a friend making a puppet movie - the main scenes were underwater in a coral reef... so we built this reef out of metal mesh on a wooden platform, several meters broad and about 1,5 ms high... on that we put some layers of glued paper and on that the underwater beings (the corals, the sea anemones a.s.o.) - we took loads of sweets, little twigs, tree fungi, hair curlers with marabou feathers a.s.o. we were three people working on that and it took us several months to fulfill the task! but it looked gorgeous! (maybe it's about time to put some photos of that in my gallery)
well, what made me smile was the never ending hot glue burns, the disgusting smell of the burnt sweets and fingers which immediately came to my mind when i read your comment, haha...
cheers......
